Let's Get Personal | Three-Ohhh!

I recently turned the big 3-0. Maybe it's not a big deal, and I've been told so many times as I approached turning 30 that it's not that bad at all. That you really discover yourself and don't really care what others think anymore. You're... you. I'm like, Okay.. great! That makes me feel so much better. It really does. But right now, I'm not really there yet. I hope to get there. Do you want to know how I feel right now? Age is not just a number. It's how old I am!

I spent all day today scrambling, and when I say scrambling, I mean literally, through the aisles of products for anti-aging creams and serums comparing and testing products on the back of my hands and arms. I didn't even bother with prices.. hey, the higher in price the better it works?! (ha)

I definitely spent time celebrating with my friends and family who made me feel great, but I ended the night of my birthday eating cake and watching the episode of Friends, "The One Where They All Turn Thirty." Which had me thinking even more about where I am in life and where I should be and most importantly, what do I want? There are a lot of things in life that I regret or wish I had done.

I do not want to live and have regrets--so I'm not going to worry about what others think about me or my lifestyle. Recently, I had dinner with some close girlfriends from church, and one of them mentioned that she felt like she lost herself once she became a mother and wanted to find herself again through hobbies that she was once interested in. I can totally relate to losing yourself because you spend so much time tending to the kids that any time you have left, you just want to rest!--haha! And I was telling them that my outlet and "me time" is blogging! As I was saying to my friends, for someone from the outside looking in, it may look like I'm very "full of myself" taking all these "fancy" pictures but what they don't see the real picture. That even if it's a few hours or a few minutes, we need time to enjoy the things that makes us feel good about ourselves, discover who we are, the things we once enjoyed because everyone deserves that! My blog is my outlet and I've met so many people through the blogging community who have become wonderful friends! Which is really funny, because I'm an introvert! But I love the engagement and community whether its blog or paralegal related, I attend these.. by myself and I enjoy them! I guess in some way I do know what I want, but let's say there will be no limits! :)

One of my biggest regret is not going away (out of state) for college which I had already set my mind on a specific one, but being the oldest in my family, I had felt like it was my "duty" to help raise the family so I stayed. Now looking back, I really wish I had just gone--now I just wear their t-shirt to bed.

Yep--I'm rambling in this post, but it's called "Let's get personal" for a reason :) Initially, I wanted to just create a sort of get-to-know me post with 30 facts about me and I couldn't get to 30, but here it is...

1. I'm the second oldest child of five. I normally don't talk about it because it's a sensitive topic for me, but I had an older sister (by 11 months) who passed away in 2003. I guess that makes me the oldest!

2. I  work as a paralegal. It's a demanding job, but I love it!

3. I'm extremely afraid of spiders! I check the surrounding areas of my bed and the kids' every single night with a flashlight (on my phone) to make sure there aren't any close by... that I could sneak up on us when we're sleeping. I wear flip flops or slippers around the house in fear of stepping on one.

4. I'm a lefty. When I was in first or second grade, I recall my parents forcing me to practice writing with my right hand because lefties are "stupid". (Thanks mom and dad) So now I write with my right hand but I do everything else with my left.

5. I currently live in Minnesota, but I was born in Michigan.

6. I've never been out of the country!

7. My mom dropped me when I was a baby, so my left collarbone sticks out more than my right. You can't really tell by looking unless you feel it.

8. I love seafood-- my favorite food is fish.

9. I love eating bread. Probably not good for me, but I like it! Whenever I'm sick, all I need is a bag of bread and a bottle of Gatorade!

10. I eat more vegetables than I do fruits, and my reason is because I'm too lazy to peel fruits! HAHA

11. I have bad hearing. I think it's because my ears are small? My ears are the size of a 4-year-old's! And it gets me into trouble not hearing well--apparently someone was saying "hi" to me while I was out with some girlfriends years ago and I didn't hear so I didn't answer and later found out she thought I was ignoring her so now this person hates me! Seriously. And it doesn't help when I have the "resting bitch" look too. Lol

12. Anyone that knows me, knows I love Winnie the Pooh (I know, grow up right?)

13. My right foot is slightly bigger than my left. Is that common? I know a few people who have said the same thing.

14. Aside from Friends (because we all love Friends, rights?) my favorite show and highly recommend you watch, is Monk.

15. I'm a very indecisive person. Do not ever given me options and choices--you will be waiting a long time :)

There--half of 30. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit about me!
